I just switched this blog over to xhtml (the Blogger bits, not the former Greymatter stuff, which I will forever keep in html transitional in sort of a time capsule sort of way) and it passed validation!!!! I was a bit worried, because I kept checking it and I kept getting errors, and finally I said, oh screw it, I'll just do it, since it seemed that the errors being generated were not coming from my coding or template but that weird junk that makes up Blogger code generated on *their* end.
But it passed! It passed!
Wow!
OK, on to my next tasks...the other sites. Grrrrrrr....

Caveat...the main pages like the journal.shtml page and the monthly archive pages pass without error, but the individual pages by entry have an error or two...or more. If there are no comments, there is an error (and I don't know why) because of some closed tag. If there comments that are all one paragraph long or less, there are no errors. If there are comments where the comment author uses more than one paragraphs (i.e., they hit the return key a couple times), Blogger, in its infinite wisdom, throws in the < B R / > for a line break, but this is what drives me crazy about nerds...they're so conscientious about conforming to the latest standards and technology, yet they're so sloppy. UPPERCASE is not allowed, yet they are throwing in UPPER CASE BRs!!!!! WTF!! They use xhtml (strict, of all things...I'm not using strict, I'm only using transitional) in all their templates (which won't validate as it is out of the can, BTW), yet their commenting system is inserting uppercase break tags!!!!! AAAaaaargh!!!!!!
Well, I'm not going to worry about it (Ooops...that paragraph break just cost me an error on my pages). This is out of my control.
Don't know what you're talking about, but good luck!! ;)
It's all Geek to me, right, Nico? ;-D
Anyway, this little comment page (before I even inserted the comment I am writing now) on Blogger's server (I have no jurisdiction over how this page looks or how it is coded) has 21 errors! Take a look at The Validation Output of this popup comment page!
Makes me furious when non-geeks such as myself are told I have to conform to standards, yet big-ass Geeks like those behind Blogger (with the help of Google's deep pockets) can't get the code right themselves.
Now take a look at My Validation Output...not to brag or anything...
...ok, to brag.
Congratulations!
Yay, you're good :) I almost believe you are a geek ;)
Thanks guys! I think it's more of a perfectionist thing rather than a geek thing. Hence my lack of knowledge of the vast array of web scripting, but my correct, yet technically simple web pages. If I'm going to do something, I want it to be right. Otherwise I won't even begin to tackle it.
