The latest is a bit hard to explain, so I won't go into the boring tech stuff, but it seems that Blogger is now publishing Label pages that have spaces in the title with weird characters, plus it's not making updates to those pages with the weird characters. I could go into much more detail about it, but it would only confuse and waste everyone's time. It just started this recently. All I know is that my Route 66 label page, which has a space between the "Route" and "66", is not showing my latest entries, whereas my "Vacation" page (which has no spaces in the title) does.
I want to scream.
Labels: Blog Info

Yes, just as I suspected. Because the label for this entry is "Blog Info" (it has a space between blog and info), the html label page does not show this latest entry.
Doing some research here I'm seeing that Labels only display the last 20 posts in that category. WTF? So I guess they have a short shelf-life. (in a way this makes sense so that your html label pages don't become unbearably huge--I was wondering why my Dream label page wasn't that way!) This is independent from the other problem I mention above. What's the point of having a category if it can't be comprehensive and all-inclusive. I guess I'll have to rethink the way I label things, and will have to go back in to my archives and re-label old entries that have dropped off the label pages.
Grr.
Ok, do I understand it right if I say that only twenty posts can have the same label?
What will happen is that when you make the 21st post with the label "Chocolate" (for example), the very first "Chocolate" post will be knocked off of the /labels/Chocolate.shtml page. On your 22nd post under the label "Chocolate", the 2nd post you made will be knocked off that page. Those posts will still exist under their dated archive pages and under their actual entry pages, just not on that label page.
But yeah, only 20 entries per label page. Keeps the file size down, but otherwise a really bad idea.
I've now divvied up the Route 66 Label into Route-66-Part1 and Route-66-Part2 (soon there will be a Route-66-Part3 when I get a chance to process all the pics).
I will also need to do this for other popular labels like Dreams, Vacation, etc.
PITA.
good to know, I use blogger too. I like the labels, but that is kind of useless.
Guess one have to make very spesific labels then (unlike me, cause how many posts will I write that sort under the label I call silliness, one can just imagine..) It's kind of like with the previous posts tag then, cause it's only the ten last ones and if you republish the whole blog, the last ten posts comes up as previous on all the posts, no matter if they are the ten previous ones or not.
Erik, I'm sort of lost on what you said, but the labelled html pages have the previous 20 posts, not 10. Not that 20 is limiting enough as it is.
Yes, I know. But I don't know how to explain what I mean.
