I was thrown for a loop the past couple days. I can't talk about it...here. It's something that most people wouldn't understand or have much sympathy for anyway. It's just that certain things can be such a disappointment at most, or an unfathomable conundrum and contradiction at least. It's as if someone turned on the surrealize filter in my life, and I'll never be able to go back to thinking things were the way they were before anymore.
Either someone is messing with my head, or they're serious, in which case I guess I just don't understand at all. It's like having a gourmet chef tell you they like Dorritos.

That's just wrong.

Came to check out your site after seeing your lovely necklace featured at Lavendar's.
Hope whatever is going on, gets better. Looks better. Feels better?
It is a surprise but everyone has something beneath their standards that they like like Dorritos. Maybe you can't taste it but there is just the slightest hint of cumin in those low culture foods and that happens to be the chef's weakness. It's all in the cumin however slight the flavor.
I think you're going to bounce back.
Love you.
Thanks Dawn and Lynn.
Isn't it funny how food can be such a good metaphor for so much.
Stan, It's very hard to taste the cumin because really, all I taste is the sugar. I take your word for it that YOU taste cumin, though.
But just because there's cumin in a recipe, doesn't automatically make it taste good.
And what about the molé sauce? How could you not like the mole sauce?!? Every good Mexican cook knows and loves the molé sauce. How could you like Dorritos and not like Molé sauce?
But... I do love Mole sauce.
I'm not talking about YOU, Stan, you know that. I know you love Molé sauce! And I would think most fine chefs would love Molé sauce and not like Dorritos. It's just odd to eat at a restaurant that's a great restaurant by all other means, but where it's the other way around.
I guess the chef doesn't like chocolate-based foods for some reason. Sure there's a lot of crappy chocolate out there...ho-hos, ding-dongs, but chocolate has produced a lot of good food items and the existence of bad Hostess junk food shouldn't be held against the Cocoa Bean.
I love talking in food code! This is fun!
