Stan and I were sitting in a ski lift (?WTF?) and we were discussing Bush's silly "stimulus package" (ew again). I was saying how ridiculous it was to give people a one-time $800, and what this country really needs is a long-term economic plan that will help the middle- and underclasses, but not just a one-time handout. Stan said "Well, fine, if you don't want your money, then you can give it to me, I have bills to pay." I thought his response rather odd because, yeah, duh, we both have bills to pay, but it's not a long term solution and I thought it was very shortsighted on his part and just plain odd to be so "Thank you, Uncle George!"
We'll have to wait for Stan's response to this one as his computer is in the shop (loooong story) so that hypothetical $800 would be welcome...but still, a very shortsighted solution nonetheless.
*Yes, Keith Olbermann may have used that term a few nights ago, but I was thinking it weeks before he said it!

I hope I never ride another ski lift unless it's only taking me to a scenic sight like a cave or something. I tried to ski twice and I hate it.
I agree that there needs to be something done that will help all of us long term. The only people being helped long term by this administration are the super rich.
It wouldn't be $800 little ones in our pockets. It's only part of the deductions. In our case it may only give us a few more dollars in deductions if it ends up being close to the amount we would get on SC-A anyway.
Further more even if it did extend our deductions by $1600 or $800 we would only be getting back $15 on every $100.
Additionally they will probably adjust the tax tables so that we may not quallify for any more or even less of a rebate than we would have on last years tax tables.
Best case for working class people is that we would get back about $2 and fifty cents more than we did last year.
It's all political language when they say $800 deductions per person and they will adjust the numbers in other places to collect the same money they did last year from the working poor.
These people only want things to look well -whether they really are or not - until they can leave office at the end of this year.
