There goes the neighborhood

Don't even look at me. Pretend not to see me. Ignore me. Imagine I'm not really your neighbor, after all, you'll be gone in two years anyway, why take the time to get to know someone you know you haven't the slightest thing in common with anyway. Your home is just a starter home, something you'll trade in for a newer, bigger model, just like the others before you did.

What is it with some people? If they're too darn good for the neighborhood and too darn good to even say hi to their neighbors, why the heck did they buy a house here?

Our neighbor looks like a female version of popeye the sailor man.

you know Ann, my grandfather taught me something a long time ago. He was born in 1910 and grew up in the coal camps until he was three, when they left Ludlow, here in CO. ANyway, his mother had 9 kids-8 boys & 1 girl. (( he was #4 )) His mom and the other women looked after each other. They had to, with 'oweing the company store' and such. The lesson he saw, and imparted to me was to take care care of your neighbors..get to know them, for you'll never regret it, you'll never know when you need them, and you'll have a friend or two for life.
And you know, that is so true. The house i live in now, is the one i grew up in, and in '76, my mother put rocks in the front yard. It looked crappy then, and it still does. We had the house sides two yrs ago, and it looks great, but the yard still looks like the Addams families....and the whole nieghborhood knows it. BUT...because i get to know my neighbors, although some of them, about 5-6 of them were here when i m oved in in '69, and then back again in '96, the forgive my errent gardening ways, because i am a good neighbor. Someone they can call no matter what time, borrow a cup of what ever, or just have a shoulder to cry on or gossip too.
That in it's self is what getting to know your neighbors is about. Gosh, the fun things i would have missed out on. Oh sure, there are the crappy ones, who i don't want to know, who i have introduced myself too, but i still made the effort.
You my dear, would be a delightful neighbor...ah hell, move back here to CO.....we'll have a blast!
And just for shits and grins, go introduce yourself to those people, and take a housewarming gift..a venus flytrap perhaps....for their new house...LOL

LOL Anita! Is this common or what? My parents used to have a Popeye clone living across the street (back when I lived with them), and Stan and I have a Popeye clone living across the street from us. But a female Popeye...now that would be interesting to see!

BTW...Popeye trivia...did you know that Olive Oyl's measurements are 19-19-19? Heh. I think I was that when I was...10?

Lori, Stan's already introduced himself when he was out gardening and they were outside. Each time I'm outside and they're outside I try to catch their eye for an opener, and they just ignore me. I'm just not the going over and knocking on the door kind--it's not my style and it's not anyone's style in this neighborhood either, I'm more the "catch their eye outside" kind. We wave at them when they were walking down the alley and we are in our car, and they just ignore us. They pretend we don't exist, so how can I catch their eye at all? I'm getting tired of it and very unmotivated to try any future attempts. If they want to keep to themselves, fine. Like I say, they'll be gone in a couple years anyway, I can tell, I've been through this before with the neighbors before them.
