12:20:2002 Entry: "Ann : DREAM-Bus Ride"

DREAM-Bus Ride

I was alone, on the west side of town. I was without transportation and it was grey and possibly cold and raining. The only option I had was to catch a bus and head east. I think it was morning and I was still in grad school and had a class to go to. I got on the "J" bus--they used to use letters on the busses before they revamped the system a few years ago. As I recall, the "J" bus would go down East Washington. As I boarded the bus, I started talking to the driver. He was an older guy and very friendly. He talked a lot to me...I asked him questions like where the bus went, etc. I mentioned I had to go to campus. He talked so much that as soon as I noticed we had passed the capitol and were heading down King Street. I told him that I forgot to get off at the campus, and that I really should get off at the next stop. I also realized he was sitting *behind* me. He seemed to pass lots of bus stops. Finally I pulled down the chord, and told him I really needed to get off, so he stopped and let me off. It was now about 7:45 AM and I had a class in the (in)Humanities building at 8. There was no way I could make it that quickly. I feared I would have to miss the art class. I didn't even know whether I should catch another bus home, or go to class. I wished I would've stayed on the bus to go home.

Be glad it was just a dream. I felt asleep on the bus once, missed a town and ended up out in nowhere ;o]

That is my fear! I think that's why I dream about not being able to disboard a bus.

What happened when you got to nowhere? Was there a way back?

I took a bus back two hours later. The same thing has happened once I took a boat, I had to travel another round around in the fjord to get to the correct place, damn fun when you get seasick ;o]
