05:01:2004 Entry: "Ann : Well,"

Well,

I have high blood pressure.

Not good.

What happened to the times when I was in my 20s and they'd have to take my blood pressure twice, not because they got a strangely high reading, but because THEY COULDN'T EVEN GET a reading?

Why does my dad, who is always so tense, has NO BLOOD PRESSURE, whereas my mom who is pretty mellow has high blood pressure? Why did I have to inherit that from her? Of all the things I wish I got from my dad...

Crap.

I thin k the blodd pressure thing is like: The "calmer" people have a higher on e because they keep everything inside and something's gotta give.

For example, Holger is really calm and he has higher blood pressure than me (high end of normal) whereas when something pisses me off, I allow myself to be pissed until I am done (not acting out pissed, just you know, let it out kind of pissed) and I have totally perfect blood pressure (on the low end of normal).

So, I think sometimes that it's the people who keep everything inside who have High Blood Pressure issues.

Just a thought...

About that man woman post up there: Holger and I are like that. As in: we get along well and like to do the same things and we don't do that man woman pairing off thing.

In fact, we don't even like hanging out with other couples really... :)

Hi Kimberly, actually I think in my case I'm not that calm and I do let it out...it's just plain old genes (my mom's genes in this case), is all, there's nothing I can do about it. My dad's even less calm and his is deathly low.

Whenever someone pisses me off and I start bitching about it, Stan's always trying to calm me down, but I think it's a good thing to act out, better than keeping it in.

Ditto that! Holger's says "you can't change it blahdeblah" and I say "well I don't have to take it with a silly smile either!" (but with a little more swearing)

As to the BP:
Sounds like in your case it is just genes. :(

Well, I hope the meds work out well and that you're feeling good.

Thanks Kimberly. I feel fine...it's just the drug side effects that weird me out. That's why high blood pressure is called the silent killer because it doesn't make you feel bad or feel anything abnormal.
