09:08:2004 Entry: "Ann : What the Hell is going on with the Weather?"

What the Hell is going on with the Weather?

It got to lower 50s/upper 40s last night. Slept with the windows CLOSED (which I hate because it gets stuffy and then I have to throw the covers off and then i freeze because it's COLD). It's not supposed to get above 60 today! Usually this time of year it's SWELTERING and I have to decide whether to sleep naked with no air circulation (because of the stillness of hot nights) or turn the fan on which would mean I have to put some clothes on because the fan requires the blinds to be pulled and we sleep on the 1st floor and people can see in.

Actually, wearing a sweater and long jeans in August is much more comfortable than sweating through minimal clothes, but it's just not right! This is August! It's OK to be sweltering in August, even if it is uncomfortable. Sweaters and August are an anathema! Only loony people dress like it's October in August, people who are clueless about the weather and about how their body temperature feels...you know the kind...you're driving down a street and there's someone at a bus stop with a hat and winter coat and it's 78 degrees. (The same people go sleeveless and wear sandals in December)

The temperature has been very nice this summer, if not on the cool side. It would've been perfect had it not been for the deluges, which has taken its toll on many of our cactii. I'm not complaining about the temperature, but for once I'd like a "normal" summer...hot when it's supposed to be (but not TOO hot for extended periods). OK, so I want 55 degrees at night and 80 degrees during the day, and nice, dry weather with an *occasional* rain shower that keeps the crops wet but doesn't hurt our cactii and succulents. Dream on, huh?
