..::Previous entry: "Protect Social Security"::.. ..::Main Index::.. ..::Next entry: "Everything I see online lately pisses me off."::.. 02:22:2005 Entry: "Ann : Renauguration"RenaugurationTuesday I bought an exercise bike (Cheap! New! $100!!! What a deal!). Tuesday night, I had a dream that the pedals felt weird, and I looked down and saw that they were facing the wrong way (right facing left, left facing right). I was mad that Stan had assembled it that way. The funny thing is that IRL, Stan really did do that to his own bike. Since I haven't ridden a bicycle since 1989 (before we moved and I sold my bike--I never bought a new one...too hazardous to ride it to get anywhere in in the city, no where to store it here, etc.), my leg muscles HURT. OK, so there's these protestors today at the re-nauguration, and not that I am not in alignment with their political sentiments or anything, but how on earth can all these people afford to go to Washington to stand out in the cold just to turn their backs on Dubya? Not that I'd want to see Dubya, mind you, but I can not see him from the privacy and warm comfort of my own home just by not watching TV or at least watching something like Animal Planet or something benign that doesn't show news. I guess it is fortunate that the past 4 years of Dubyanomics have been good enough that it can afford those that disagree with him the luxury of protesting him. And the irony is that so many people are so opposed to *celebrities* voicing their opinion on politics, but hell, I'd rather have a celebrity lend their voice to a cause because at least it's transparent. You know they're a celebrity. You know they're wealthy. Not like some unknown protestor that is supposedly representing the downtrodden and disenfranchised, but because of their fortune in life has the freedom and finances to take a vacation to DC to show their discontent. I have to work every single day, and if I sacrifice days when I'm not working, you better believe it is for a vacation out west that I will LOVE, not for something I hate. Me, I just won't watch or listen the damn thing on the media.
7 Comments What drives me crazy about all of these Bush protesters is that they have to say every thing in and ironic presentation like "War is Peace". What a bunch or idiots, and I would say to them that if they really have a message they should try taking themselves seriously. All they accomplish is discrediting themselves and wasting my mental energy trying to figure out whether they really mean what they say or not. Another thing that grabs me is all of the people who say that the election was stolen. If this is true show us the evidence. Circumstantial evidents about stats and polling numbers that don't seem right don't prove anything worthy of any sort of criminal accusations. I wish these protesters and people who think the election would come out with some real proof and content or just shut up. What a bunch or loosers. I oppose the war and I have never voted for Bush, and that's why it makes me mad that all the anti Bush people can accomplish is discrediting their own efforts. Posted by Stan @ 01:21:2005:05:58 PM CST Well, I don't think they're "loosers" or losers as they're obviously very lucky to be able to have so much free time on their hands to afford to protest. And I'm certainly not going to say the election wasn't stolen. How do you know that it wasn't? Do you have proof it wasn't? And I don't have a problem with the bumper sticker "War is Peace", in fact, I like the 1984 reference. In fact, you're wasting my mental energy trying to figure out what YOU just said in your comment. Posted by Ann @ 01:21:2005:06:25 PM CST Please allow me to clarify my points. First the 'stolen' election problem and then the ironic slogans problem. The exit polls don't match the election results and it is correct to be concerned. If the people I've called loosers would take the position that this is a matter that needs to be seriously looked into they would have my full support. However, I refuse to support anyone who is going to make criminal accusations based on election poll results. This is absurd not because it is clearly possibel that the election may have been stolen, but because to reach that conclusion based only on election polls discredits anyone who proposes that view. My position is to say thanks a lot you loosers for blowing it right from the start. If you would have avoided taking the position that a crime has been commited because of circumstantial evidence and would have restricted your position to 'we have a major malfunction here' I would be behind you 100%. Now, as it stands with these loosers they have to actually come up with hard evidence or they will have to forever be labled as baseless or even false accusors. Way to put your neck out too far on a very serious problem you bunch of loosers. On the second problem I'm very frustrated with the fact that liberalism in this country has failed to try and reach main stream culture. The slogan problem is only a small part of this, and it really doesn't address any problems on a content basis allowing everyone to say as Reagan use to say "there you go again". I love "War is Peace" and other ironic statements in politics jokes I can enjoy, but if a person wants to disagree with the direction our nation is going this is useless. It's counter productive because it is only a kind of demonization. No reasonable person wants to live under a big brother government and if our government really was like this the first ammendment and the second one (for that matter) would already be gone. If the first ammendment has been abolished please let me know so I can stop writing now. My position on the slogan thing is that it attempts to demonize the people who apparently won this last election, and a stratigy of demonization will only discredit the people using this tactic. I do not support the war and I wish John Kerry was our commander and chief, but people making unproven criminal accusations and demonizations are making this nation worse not better. Posted by Stan @ 01:22:2005:12:12 PM CST OK, thank you for clarifying. But PLEASE stop using the word "looser." For all I know, these people could be very sexually unpromiscuous and very uptight. I hope that didn't go over your head. But really, I still don't know what is so bad about that bumper sticker compared to our neighbor Lyle's, for example (which I love, BTW): "Somewhere in Texas, a Village is Missing an Idiot" and "John Kerry: Bringing Complete Sentences Back to the White House." Why are these permissable (in your world view) and "War is Peace" isn't? Posted by Ann @ 01:22:2005:12:27 PM CST Thank you for all of the great quotes they are funny. These kinds of statements are protected by the 1st amendment and I'm sure I'll always enjoy them. What was the one about the Hobit loosing the ring and Bush having it? I can never remember these things word for word. If every intelegent liberal minded person is content with this as an political stratigy then in 2008 well all have another Republican Presedent. I'm not content with irony for stratigy and if the Democratic Party wants a chance in 2008 it's going to take a lot more than the joys of satire to reclaim the office of President. Fine, I'll quit using the word loosers and wait to see if they really have something or not. I stand by my position that there is no excuse for putting the accusations out before putting out the proof, and poll numbers simply aren't evidence in and of themselves as fraud. Posted by Stan @ 01:22:2005:01:43 PM CST I'm confused. Yes I'm a little slow when it comes to spelling, and I've been mispelling loser. Sorry! Posted by Stan @ 01:22:2005:01:49 PM CST "I've been mispelling loser. " Oh the irony. Posted by Ann @ 01:22:2005:01:52 PM CST By Ann @ 12:58 PM CST:02:22:05 ..::Link::.. |
