03:13:2005 Entry: "Ann : Blog Lady"

Blog Lady

Stan and I are doing our yearly ritual of Twin Peaks watching. I suddenly got the inspiration that a very Peaksian name for a journal would be "The Blog Lady." I guess if I were to start over with this thing, I could call this journal that, even though this is not a blog.

Anyway.

Lucifer Sam gets his teeth cleaned and one pulled tomorrow, which means they have to anaesthetize him for that. I wish I could just hold them while they do that...the tooth is loose anyway. I get so scared to think of my pug being anaesthetized...I hear it's dangerous for short nosed dogs.

It's hard to concentrate. I shouldn't worry so...he had anaesthesia when he was fixed, and he came out fine.

It's just in my nature, I guess.

Hope everything turned out alright with Lucifer Sam.

Just got a call from the vet tech (actually it was a message because Stan was trying to call them simultaneously! Weird how that happens!) and she said everything went smoothly and he's sitting up. :)

I was a complete basketcase this morning in complete worry panic mode.

I'm such a mother. It's sad.

is this time of year somehow Twin Peaks related? something in the series that happened around this time of year, or was the movie released at this time, or...??? i don't usually carry Twin Peaks around in my conscious, waking thoughts at any other time, but lately i've had the symbolism of it on my mind. it is like Twin Peaks popped up out of nowhere and took over (my thoughts.) and then i read that you and Stan are watching the Peaks. i'm sure it is just a coincidence, but then i wonder.

Yes, I think late winter/early spring is very Peaksian because that is the time when the story takes place. Also, it's when the series first season aired (even though I have to admit I missed season 1 when it started back in the Spring of 1990, but I then caught the reruns in the summer, which went right into the Fall 2nd season without missing a step, IIRC).

I think there's something truly mystical about this time of year, and I can't put my finger on it exactly, but it's rather spiritual. It comes from within me, not from some exterior religion or anything, although I sometimes think Peaks is a religion, or a ritual, but a self-imposed ritual, not one of those bad societal rituals that your parents make you go through, but one you do on your own.

Mysticism...Tibetan Buddhism, Native American beliefs, all play heavily into Twin Peaks. It's probably more supernatural than The X-Files.

I do think that certain movies/shows just have their "season." Like we have to watch Fargo in the winter. And Apocalypse Now just has to be shown on the 4th of July...another ritual. Kalifornia is a good one for late March. Maybe it has to do with the time you first saw the movie, but I don't know. Some seasons just feel right for certain things.
