ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: Mischief

For Illustration Friday.

05-06-05 (68k image)

Just this morning I saw an ant crawling across my keyboard--a rather Dali-esque image--making mischief, no doubt, with his bug pals.

The keyboard part is not a photo...I created it myself in Adobe Illustruator (for my Ann-S-Thesia headers), then dropped it in Adobe Dimensions to dimensionalize, then dropped the 3dmf file into Bryce. Mischievious bugs are from Stan's assorted Bug Fonts.

Great concept! And the keyboard does look like a photo so you've done a good job. I've been having trouble with ants in my living room, they've made a nest in my ficus tree. I've seen several crawling on my laptop over the last few days, and keep wondering what will happen if one gets into the computer part!

Lady bugs are a nuisance up here. When it gets hot they divebomb everyone and during the winter months they populate the insides of my windows.
P.S. That lightning looks kewl !

really cool! brings to mind the whole menace of computer "bugs." I just turned our keyboard upside-down today and shook it because I read you should do that, and I was amazed and appalled at what came out!

Thanks for the explanation on how you did this. I don't recognize some of the tools you used... but at least i had some relief knowing it wasn't hours and hours with an airbrush.

Posted by PainterWoman @ 05:07:2005:03:01 AM CST

Thanks! Yes, it's that time of year, I suppose, when they all start to come out to play. Although I had no reservations about flushing said ant down the drain, I did feel guilty when I saw a spider on a web in the bathtub and drowned him and his web. Maybe that's why I have ants now... And those vicious ladybugs (those aren't the docile ladybugs I grew up with) can be annoying, but somehow I can't bring myself to get too mad at them as they're such an icon of innocence. I have to admit, I actually love certain insects....katydids, cicadas, and of course butterflies.

Posted by Ann @ 05:07:2005:08:56 AM CST

Hey, that's something! Very nicely done.

I never kill insects. When I find wet spiders in the shower I dry them with toiletpaper and carry them outside ;)

Posted by Nico @ 05:09:2005:01:16 AM CST

Well, I was getting ready for a shower and I was in the alltogether and really didn't want to get re-dressed for a spider. If Stan was home, I would've had him remove it. One time I had a spider land on me while I was showering and I freaked so bad, so I didn't want that to happen again. I normally don't get freaked by spiders, like when I SEE one, it's like, "oh, a spider." But if one surprises me, (and I even get freaked by STAN when I'm not expecting him to be there) I just freak something terrible; they can hear me scream down in Chicago. I don't like surprises. So to alleviate any potential heart attack, I disposed of the spider.

Posted by Ann @ 05:09:2005:09:15 AM CST

Maybe the ant was looking for some dried coffee with suger in it. Very cool art work, and espically creating the keyboard.

Posted by Stan @ 05:09:2005:07:31 PM CST

Hmm.. was not my intention to imply that you're a bad person for killing a spider.

Posted by Nico @ 05:10:2005:08:51 AM CST

Nico, I didn't think it was your intention. I'd probably only be bad if I was Jain, but then again, I don't know enough about Jainism to know whether one would feel bad about that in the way us westererners feel bad about doing something we feel morally against. But I know I didn't feel as bad about killing it as I would've felt if it surprised me and I freaked and either got a sore throat from screaming or had a heart attack or something.

Stan, I doubt there's much coffee sugar in my keyboard...around my keyboard is another matter. And pistachio and cracker crumbs in my keyboard is another story too!

I hope I did your fonts good!

Posted by Ann @ 05:10:2005:09:06 AM CST

Fonts look good and I wish I had time to make more or them.

Posted by Stan @ 05:10:2005:07:09 PM CST

Excellent. Nice bugs.
