12 Comments This one has a great sinse of humor. Posted by Stan @ 04:05:2006:07:35 PM CST Wow. I am in awe. Posted by Dawn @ 04:06:2006:02:32 AM CST I have mixed feelings about it. It is very technically perfect from a seam-free POV. (although I had to fudge a seam at the bottom of the slice that was given me and incorporate the 15 pixels so that the seam wouldn't show and make *me* look bad) And the color green is beautiful. But what's with the "shit"? Sort of a non-sequitor...or a non-shitquitor. Posted by Ann @ 04:06:2006:09:20 AM CST Someone must have been having a pretty "shitty" day! Was the wierd seem from saving crappy again? PSPs default compression for jpeg is pretty high and smudges things up. People may not know that they should decrease it to 1. Posted by Dawn @ 04:06:2006:11:57 PM CST "Someone must have been having a pretty "shitty" day!" I guess she was...or at least a bad relationship from what she wrote! I don't know if the weird seam was from saving or what. There appeared to be a light line around the entire perimeter of the edges I was given, which I incorporated on my own piece and made sort of a frame out of it. I don't know about PSP (it doesn't exist Mac-side) but if you save it at 100% quality in Photoshop, it's virtually indistinguishable from the original. I thought we were all supposed to save it at the highest quality setting...maybe PSP doesn't go as quality as Photoshop? Posted by Ann @ 04:07:2006:09:18 AM CST PSP has compression settings for jpgs for some reason. It's default is 15 which is bad (it goes up to 99). Ever see an image that close up was all squished? That is usually from saving that way. (it doesn't change the image until it is closed. once reopened you can see how awful it looks) Set at 1, the images looks great- no change. They don't have psp for mac? It's such an affordable program- usually around a hundred. That sucks. Here is a link to an image. One side is at 15, the other at 1. Can you tell the difference? http://www.geocities.com/dawnsdreamscape/compress.jpg Posted by Dawn @ 04:07:2006:06:49 PM CST No PSP for Mac. It doesn't really inconveniece me, as I've always relied on Photoshop as it is such an industry standard for freelancers. I can't tell the difference between the images. Posted by Ann @ 04:07:2006:07:16 PM CST Photoshop is great; I used it in college but can't afford it. For just goofing off PSP is fine. I just feel bad for the kids with macs out there who can't afford photoshop. I know there are other programs, but still. Oh, the text is all fuzzy in the image on the left. I notice things like that. I'm anal- at times. ;D Posted by Dawn @ 04:07:2006:11:21 PM CST Hate to go on about this, but the newest corpse up has text in the forth panel that isn't very clear, and I would bet it is that compression thingy. Posted by Dawn @ 04:07:2006:11:37 PM CST " I just feel bad for the kids with macs out there who can't afford photoshop. " Yeah, but Photoshop isn't for kids, ;-) it's for people in the graphic imaging profession. Photoshop does make "Elements" which is a lot cheaper (only around $80!!!!!) and (from what I hear, I don't have it myself) does a lot of what regular Photoshop can do. I couldn't afford my software when I went freelance either. I used my whole $800 from my 401 K from my former job, instead of rolling it over into some savings account, to buy software. And what that didn't cover (which was a lot 'cause I had to buy all my computer equip too) I just put on credit cards. Payed them off over a period of several years as I had no other way to finance it. Sometimes you just have to go in debt if you are serious about starting up your own business. It can be written off too, if it's for a business, and if it's not for a business, then the cheaper Elements would probably work just as well. Comparison of Elements vs. CS BTW, I don't even have CS yet...I'm still using Photoshop 7....CS doesn't work in Classic and 7 does, and I still use a lot of 3rd party plugins that will only work in Classic (old Mac OS 9 emulated in OS X). Posted by Ann @ 04:09:2006:07:06 PM CST How many photoshops are there? Upgrading could get costly. I know from experience that there are differences when you upgrade that can get frustrating- I still use PSP 7 for things I can't fugure out in 9. I didn't go out and buy it, I got it "free" from one of those sites. I had to join some things like netflix, vonage and gamefly, but I was going to do that anyway. Posted by Dawn @ 04:09:2006:10:45 PM CST I don't know...in the past 11 years I've upgraded from 3 to 5.5 and from 5.5 to 7. They're on CS2 now, and I don't know what that equates to...Photoshop 11?
