DREAM

Strange dream. Stan and I were watching "A Clockwork Orange" but instead of watching it on video at home, we were in a strange building, like a store or mall, but it was definitely downtown in a city. The whole movie seemed different and there were actors in it that weren't in the original. I specifically remember Diane Keaton (which is weird because Stan has always said I resemble her more than I do anyone else...so is she a symbol for me?), Julianne Moore (who would've been too young to be in A Clockwork Orange) and I think Robert DeNiro, but I'm not sure, and possibly more but I can't remember who. Then we were approached by some guy who seemed to be a mental patient. He was sort of short, maybe Stan's height or shorter, dark, curly hair which changed in length depending on the scene in the dream. He was saying some whacky stuff, and I remember we were trying to help him, talk to him, but we didn't want to get too closely involved. I think he might have been in trouble with the law, but it was hard to say. I remember sitting with Stan at a booth in a restaurant, and he was sitting opposite us and talking, and then he had to leave. After he left, I announced to Stan "Am I just a freak magnet or what?" We were a bit unnerved by that experience.

You know, maybe its because you are such a creative person, and an artist, but you seem to have some of the most vivid and off color dreams! Very unusual for a dream to be as detailed as yours are!

I think it's because I pay attention to my dreams and focus on them that allows me to cultivate more of them and remember them. Like anything you nurture, like plants, will grow if cared for. If you ignore them, they'll go away.

I've known other artists that can't remember a dream to save their lives, and I'm sure there are very non-creative people who just happen to remember their dreams very well and have memorable ones just because they find it interesting, although creative people are more apt to remember just because they're more apt to be interested in the phenomenon of dreaming.
