04:08:2002 Entry: "The other 30%"

The other 30%

I just heard that US Attorney General John Ashcroft has a 70% approval rating. What does this say for a society, that 70% of its members approve of someone who spends $8,000 to install a drape over an aluminum female statue's breast that has been standing in the Great Hall of Justice, undraped, since the 1930s?

This is the same mindset as the Taliban that destroyed the ancient Buddhist statues. It's called "closed."

I for one, do not approve.

That's a mad man's idea, but on the other hand 75 percent or so of the politicans are mad men or worse. It seems.

..and of course your story tells me that 70 percent of the american people are slightly disturbed too ;o]

He's daft all right. I've said this before, but...I don't dance because I dance like Elaine Benes. He doesn't dance because he believes it's evil.

Yup...a fine bunch we have in charge of my country, that's for sure.

You dance like Elaine Benes! I can't believe it! No one (except her) can be able to dance like that! =o) I've always thought you would be very good at all sorts of dancing, I've even fantazied about having you as my tangopartner!!

LOL! (picturing me tangoing) Actually, I don't dance like Elaine Benes. I dance worse. Maybe John Ashcroft saw me dance...that's why he thinks dancing is evil. Heh. I'm so bad at dancing, I can't even Pogo!

isn't this the same man whot hinks calico cats are evil as well????

i'm with you Ann, the man is demented. Maybe someone ought to give him a gift certificate to Goodvibrations, get him to loosen up a little.....:::evil grin::::

Whoah, Lori, I haven't heard that one! That is just sick. Poor little cats. Just calicos? Or any kind of cats? Someone ought to timewarp this guy out of the 16th century.

My curiosity about the cats (ha ha) got the better of me, and I looked it up. Apparently, he think they're a sign of the devil. List of sites here:

Thanks for the links, Amber. My favorite one was this: http://democraticunderground.com/articles/02/04/02_calico.html :-D

Oh, now you did it!! I wrote a nasty blog about Asscroft a while ago, glad to see you are spreading the word. This man is seriously flawed. Not to mention very, very scary.

When this present poor excuse for an administration is swept out in 2004, Mr. Asscroft would fit nicely into sweeping the halls of Bob Jones University.

OK.

What a dunce. I put "rant mode off" in a tag, thus the blank space after "OK". Duh

Noted reference to Elaine Benes. Does this mean there are Seinfeld fans here? I'm still watching re-runs!! God, I loved that show!!!

Yada, yada, yada

Lorraine--"Asscroft": I love it! And yes, me one BIG Seinfeld fan. Try to catch the reruns at 10:30 pm when Stan doesn't have the early shift. ;-)

Posted by Ann @ 04/10/2002 09:25 AM CST

What kind of dance is Pogo?

And I watch reruns of Seinfeld on two different channels, so there! =o)

Posted by Your future tango(pogo?)partner @ 04/10/2002 01:54 PM CST

Before there was Moshing, there was the Pogo. Remember the newsreels of Punk Rock ca. 1977...

You watch it on two channels? At once? ;-D That's hardcore, man.
