Looney weather, more selector test results

It's the day after the Solstice and it's raining and thundering outside. Raining and thundering. On December 22. In Wisconsin. Not that I mind, I've never been much of a snow fan, although my houseplants need snow because the bright white helps reflect light. All this darkness is not good for them.

Last night I took a bunch of other tests while watching tv...so I was tired and bored...

Red Eyed Tree Frog

Red Eyed Tree Frog
Ribbit. It's not easy being green, but I go at it with a thoughtfulness and good faith that others would do well to emulate. I'm peppy but subdued all at the same time, and manage to keep others at bay until you can judge their true intentions. Still, I'm a trusting person, albeit a tad boring at times.

What piece of photography are you?

Find out at The Stock Photo Quiz.

I think that's a really sweet photo...don't know what all the options were, but I'm glad I'm the frog.

More test results: Ancient Civilization Selector, Cheese Profile, WKRP character, women's fashion decade, shoes... ..::more::..

DREAM

Stan and I were driving in the woods somewhere, and there were all these areas that looked like they used to be amusement parks with food vending huts, but they were all abandonned. It literally looked like Cold War era ruins, and that a nuclear bomb had been dropped on them, obliterating all life. The weird thing was is that they were surrounded by woods. As we were driving, we saw a small fire that seemed to be emanating from a large stick of incense and for some reason it looked quite dangerous because it was unattended. We decided to get out of there quickly; I remember driving on some highway interchanges after that but not much else.

Beatles Selector

# 1 George Harrison
# 2 Ringo Starr
# 3 John Lennon
# 4 Paul McCartney

Um....ok...just take John out of #3, put him on top and drop George and Ringo down one and it's perfect.

Test here.

OK, I've REALLY got to stop this...it's too addicting. Hmmm...wonder if there's an "are you an addictive personality?" test somewhere...

Someone explain this to me...

Even though I sort of despise Star Trek, it's good for a laugh. Especially finding out what race I am (link via Batgrl again). Truthfully...it's been since 1993 or 1994 since I watched the show. Did I tell you I don't exactly like Star Trek? Since I don't remember what some of these races are...please oh please tell me that Diana Troi is not a Betazoid...please? I can't stand her and don't want to be classified as being like her. I'm glad Ferengi is low on the list...they're butt ugly. Klingon is #10...I sort of liked Worf...but I guess he wasn't representative, huh...being raised by humans and all? When they started having Troi and Worf having an affair, I was out of there.

Also, what the hell is a Trill? An Andorian? Is that anything like Endora from Bewitched? I like Endora...I went as her several Halloweens ago. Andorians must have been after my time. Or I wasn't paying attention which is highly likely. Anyway, here's my results:

# 1 Betazoid
# 2 Trill
# 3 Vulcan
# 4 Human
# 5 Bajoran
# 6 Cardassian
# 7 Romulan
# 8 Andorian
# 9 Ferengi
# 10 Klingon

Evilness

I am 20% evil.

I try to stay away from evil deeds but succumb to temptation every once in a while. I'm not quite on my way to hell but I certainly have some explaining to do.

Are you evil? find out at Hilowitz.com

Thanks to House of Groove for the link...Batgrl has so many test links...go take a look.

Still figuring out Greymatter...

I guess if I don't post, my little calendar thingy on the *upper left* (the graphical one...not the html one on the right) does not update to the current day, it just shows the last day of posting. Well, that's kind of a disappointment. I wonder if there's a way for it to show the current day regardless?

DREAM

Dreamt I was missing a tooth (lower front). Was hoping it wouldn't be too noticeable or that my other teeth would start to move around to fill in the gap. I hate tooth dreams.

Oh cool, it worked!

I figured out how to add a month image that changes each month. Now to work on the days...will I ever get to take a shower today?

Greymatter really is cool, despite the fact I was tearing my hair out initially.

Politics as Unusual

Noam Chomsky was on the Tom Clark show this morning. Tom asked him what he thought about the bin Laden video and Chomsky believes it's authentic too. I'm glad to know I'm not the only liberal that believes that. Sometimes listening to Wisconsin Public Radio I feel that *everyone* thinks that *everything* is a conspiracy if it seems to originate in the (Republican-led) government and I begin to wonder "shouldn't I be MORE paranoid than I am?" I think that so many people want to believe whatever their own agenda would embrace, regardless of what really is the truth. Of course we don't know what exactly the truth is, but so many people are blind to the clues. I don't want to believe that my government is behind staging the video anymore than I want to believe my government is incapable of any nefarious actions. I just want to believe the truth (gaaah...that sounds way too Fox Mulderish...sorry). ..::more::..

DREAM

Pretty insignificant...just snippets. I was driving on Taft Hill Road on the west side of Fort Collins. Somehow I had to get over to the east side on Timberline where the new Fort Collins High School is (I went to the old one waaaaay back when). Then Stan is in the car with me and I realize we're both in the back seat although he's still managing to drive the car. I realize I'm partly naked with him, but my body looks weird. Another dream later that morning...I'm looking at a 12" record album cover...I think it was The Kinks, but it looked strange and was mutating.

Ghost Gifs

In case you're wondering "How did I do that" with the patterned backgroud on the right and the top image changing color with the background skins when you "chameleonify," I added a tutorial here on making ghost gifs.

BTW, I hope the "chameleonify" function in this journal is obvious enough...

DREAM

Remember those plants that I think might have been popular in the 70s...one was a "Resurrection" plant and the other was a "Ti" plant? Both came in little celophane packages and appeared to be dead. The Resurrection plant looked a round, dead, curled up cedar tree, but if you put it in a bowl of water it unfurled. The Ti plant was a section of a trunk, but you rooted it and it began to sprout foliage. I think it might be related to a Dracaena, but not sure. Anyway, I had those plants in my dream last night.

In the dream, someone had a Resurrection plant and they kept calling it a Ti plant. The thing is, it didn't resemble either...it looked more like one of those feather-leaved peonies. I also remember someone was trying some weird sort of grafting together of plant stems, using a rooting hormone for the grafts to attach to eachother. They were also making it in a shape of an animal...very weird.

It's another fine mess you've gotten us into, Stanley

Well poo. Although Stan and I don't celebrate Christmas, our parents do, so since they do, we feel obliged to exchange some small gifts amongst ourselves or else we'd feel a bit odd, I mean we *ARE* the most important people in eachothers' lives, right? The other day I ordered some CDs and a video for Stan from Amazon. I was worried that they might not get here in time for the holiday because one took a rather long time to ship. Then that mortgage fiasco happened, and the other night we put holds on all our credit card companies and requested the ones we actively use to issue us new numbers. I had forgotten about my Amazon order. I naturally assumed since I made it over a week ago that they've already charged my card, right? Well, this morning I got a message in my email that my card is denying them payment. D'oh! Well, I guess I won't have to worry about not getting them in time for the holiday...now I KNOW I won't get them in time for the holiday. I probably won't even receive my new card number for a couple of days. Not that it matters...sometimes Stan and I don't even open our presents until he gets a day off, and he does work on the holiday. He has New Year's day off though...Sometimes a parental unit would call us either on Christmas or shortly after and ask us if we've opened our presents yet and when we've replied "no" they're in total disbelief. (They're still remembering when we were kids and couldn't wait...it's hard for them to adapt to the fact that we're now more curmudgeonly than they are).

Geez, if I was a sentimental Christmassy sort, I'd absolutely be devastated without being able to celebrate Christmas ON THAT DAY...the day baby Jesus was born! Guess it's good I'm who I am...someone else just wouldn't be able to hack it.

Actually, I think it's rather funny...if Stan wouldn't have taken up those crooks on their first cold call to him, he'd have Brian Eno, David Bowie, The Beatles and the movie Pi for Xmas. Oh well...

they're not terrorists, just slimeballs!

ROFL! I called Stan today at work to see how things were going. He said he'd been looking up numbers in the phone book during his breaks about consumer fraud, hotlines, government numbers, etc. He happened to get ahold of one government number, but happened to transpose the numbers or something, and instead of calling some consumer fraud alert hotline, he ended up at the Terrorist Hotline! I kid you not!

I find this extremely funny.

Insane Mortgage Company

The refinancing we were going to do on our house to incorporate Stan's student loans into the mortgage fell through. It was our decision. It's not that our credit wasn't any good or that we didn't qualify. Oh, we qualified all right, our credit immaculate. It's just that the company was a bunch of crooks.

Note to self...never trust the outcome of any "professional" service if all the following apply:

- you've been feeling depressed the entire week before for no known reason
- it's on the west side of town (eewwww the west side...politically correct eastender working class snob am I...so sue me)
- it's a dreary Friday afternoon
- you take the Monza to the appointment
- it's after a very famous rock musician has died. ..::more::..

becalmed

I had a very strange and fairly good weekend. Stan spent most of the time redoing our tax forms from last year...don't ask...long explanation...has to do with refinancing our mortgage. I worked on this site and turned a little greyer trying to figure out greymatter. We rented Help! and Yellow Submarine and watched them with Tim and I really started to get nostalgic for my long gone vinyl record collection again. Stan and I took one Calms pill each before we went to bed that night. I thought maybe it would help my stomach problem if it is caused from anxiety. We slept forever...I don't know how Tim can take five of those things. I felt really tired for all of Sunday and even today, but the good thing is is that I'm not experiencing that queasy, nauseous, burping, dizzy feeling anymore. Very interesting. We're going to miss Tim...he's spending the entire XMas holiday at the funny farm. I think I would go mad if I had to stay at my parent's for that long without Stan, and no transportation (plus, he's trying to quit smoking!). I hope he decides to come back early so that we can have a movie night again.

DREAM

I dreamt I was looking at a sweater in a catalog and was going to buy it because it was only about $20.00 or so. Then it was as if I was in a store and speaking to a saleswoman. She rang it up and the charge came out to $60. I told her I didn't want it because it was too expensive and then she started behaving really rudely. I think I woke up crying.

A new era...a new journal

I can't believe I finally was able to get this up and running on Greymatter. Note to self...do not attempt any hacks...things that make sense to an artist do not makes sense to geeks. They like difficulty...we do not.

I'm sure that there's still a lot of bugs to work out...seems like I've been working on this forever already.
