Paint Splattered Coleus, Summer 2011

Take one coleus with weirdly shaped leaves. Paint it yellow. Take some light green paint and scumble it across the leaves. Take a thick bristle brush, dip it in magenta paint, and draw your thumb across the bristles, splattering paint on the leaves.

That is wild! It doesn’t even look like a coleus. Looks like an ornamental oak. It has that texture that was popular in the home building product industry about 20 years ago, that sprayed splattered paint look.

  • Ann says:

We have textures like that in our house. I guess that makes our house outdated by 20 years.

  • Stan says:

Those textures you like will come back in style 🙂 . I think this is the most edible looking coleus we have, sort of a gourmet look. Better to keep it as a beautiful plant.
